21,
One "Mochmad Gani" of Sourabaya figures on the list
as a member of the committee for financial affairs in Java.
This seems to be a British Indian name and the person con-
cerned may perhaps be connected with a well-known firm of
Indian suzar-brokers.
I am making enquiries on the point.
Most of the names on the list belong either to
Chinese or to natives of Dutch India, but there are also those
of a few Dutchmen (or Germans) and Russians.
5.
of one Ang Sioe Tjiang, the owner of an engineering
shop at Batavia, it is stated in the list that he will receive
machines from Shanghai for the manufacture of arms.

6. In addition to the above-mentioned list of names, my
informant showed me a copy of a telegram deanatched by the
Dutch Consul-General at Hong Kong, on the 25th ultimo, to the
Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, of which I have
made the translation into English enclosed herewith (enclosure 21
According to this telegram, Ang Sice Tjiang, men-
tioned above, owns at Tasikmalaja (in the Preanger district of
Western Java) an ammunition factory w ich is canceled beneath
an installation erected for the manufacture of perfumes. The
telegram goes on to disclose the arrangements made for smuggling
into Java on a steamer, the name of which is not known to me,
a number of revolvers contained in cases hidden below gunny
bars. The telegram enda by stating that one Zosmita (properly
asmita), a native residing at Eandoeng (Java) who is now
reported to be at the head of the communist party in the
Netherlands Cast Indies, works in close co-operation with the
"Long Tong Kongsi", a Chinese firm with offices at Hong Kong,
Canton and Tegal (a port on the North coast of Java). The
director of this firm is stated to be a Chinese named Lim Su
(or Soe) Den. One Bian Ho, manager of the firm at Canton, is
alleged in the telegram to be on the point of visiting Tegal.
